International Women’s Day: Challenge24

This year the theme for International Women’s Day 2021 is “Choose to Challenge” with the aims to celebrate women’s achievement, raise awareness against bias and take action for equality.

EA Youth Service have chosen to challenge Period Poverty and will raise awareness and break the stigma of period poverty as well as raise funds for The Red Box Project.

Throughout the day, and in the 24 day lead up, youth centres and organisation’s across Northern Ireland are taking part in Challenge24 through a wide range of challenges including:

• 24 hour spin with “Red Challenge Hours” every 4 hours
• 24 hour live stream of the events with stories of inspirational women in history, discussions regarding period poverty and health and wellbeing
• 24 day challenge of daily 5km walk/run
• Live stream yoga class
• Live stream dance class
• Access for young people who require sanitary products to receive postal parcels

Challenge24 will also raise funds for the charity; The Red Box Project.  The Red Box Project’s mission is “ensuring no young person misses out on their education because they have their period.”
